Jay:
Today I get to share a very special project I have been working on with my birth Father, Rob Hirst, (Midnight Oil), for the past year and a half. This is very close to my heart.
We have collaborated on 10 tracks, between visits to Sydney and Nashville and I’m seriously jumping out of my skin to share it!

It’s called “The Lost and The Found”. Produced by Brent Clark and Rob Hirst.

Yes – I said “Birth Father’.
For those who don’t know, I was adopted as a baby and ten years ago found my birth parents.
The story of how we all came together sounds like bad fiction writing as it’s quite unbelievable.
Adoption is a strange bird. It’s multi layered. Anyone who is an adopted person, Birth Mother/Father or an Adoptive parent knows exactly what I’m talking about. It’s not just between this small circle of people either. It cascades out affects other family members too, husbands, wives, brothers/sisters, inlaws, outlaws, cousins, family pets and the like.
We really made this music as a way of getting to know each other better and after much laughing, drinking some good wines and eating too much cheese, these songs were born.
This may sound strange but, if I’m honest, I can’t even tell you which genre it belongs to. It has shades of blues/rock/country/atmos pop.
There were no parameters, guidelines or pressures of what a reunited Father/Daughter collaboration should sound like.
Each song is a snapshot.
Each song has its own space and story.

I’m so grateful to Sony Music Australia for their amazing support! Denis, Tony, Clayton, Jess and the gang, THANK YOU!!!

And always to my partner in crime, Mark O’Shea for his love and encouragement throughout this journey.

It’s available for pre-sale now and the official release date is Feb 28th 2020. Here is the link: https://smarturl.it/TheLostAndTheFound

Physical CDs: We’ve gone old school and have printed up a VERY limited number of collectors edition CDs for diehard Oils and O’SHEA supporters. If you’d like one, you’ll need to act super fast and email Frog (yes, Frog) with your name etc here: songlandrecords@gmail.com

Thanks so much for lending me your ears.

Hope you love it. 🙂

Huge love and gratitude.
