Job Description: The Business Intelligence Analyst - Business Systems is responsible for building, developing, and maintaining data requests and SQL procedures, both pre-existing and newly requested. Boston Globe Media utilizes Snowflake Data Cloud Platform as its Enterprise Data Solution. This role works closely with the BI team, IT, Engineering, and departments such as Finance, Sales, HR, Advertising, and Consumer to provide data for improved business intelligence. The ideal candidate is comfortable liaising between technical and non-technical colleagues and is proactive in problem-solving. Responsibilities: Monitor, optimize, and tune database performance for cost efficiency. Maintain all database standards and processes. Troubleshoot and diagnose issues. Manage data flow through data feeds, reports, and dashboards. Control database access and define security standards. Collaborate with departments to fulfill business intelligence requests. Stay updated on latest technology trends. Qualifications: 3+ years of experience with Snowflake, including UI, Marketplace, and External Connections, and StreamLit App Building. Experience with BI reporting tools like Tableau, PowerBI, etc. Experience building and using REST APIs. Scripting experience (Bash, Perl, Python). Knowledge of Git and version control. Experience with cloud services (AWS, GCP, etc). Strong written and verbal communication skills. Adaptable, audience-focused, curious, and committed to inclusivity. Plus: Knowledge of MySQL, PostgreSQL, MariaDB, MS SQL. Experience with Fivetran and ETL tools. The BGMP office is located in downtown Boston, near Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market, accessible by MBTA and commuter rail. Candidates should be local or willing to relocate.
