E.Z. Law, LLC is an immigration law firm located in the northwest side of Chicago. We provide exceptional legal representation to individuals and families seeking lawful immigration status within the United States.

We are seeking a paralegal with immigration law experience to support our attorneys in delivering the highest quality representation to our clients. This is a fulltime, onsite position.

An ideal candidate will have at least two years of experience in this field although some entry-level candidates may be considered on a case by case basis.

Aside from being detail oriented, a qualified candidate must be fluent in English and Spanish (reading, writing, speaking). There is no exception to this requirement. Other responsibilities and required skills are noted as follows:

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare legal documents such as agency forms, pleadings, briefs, and other related correspondence,
  • Conduct legal research and gather pertinent information for case preparation,
  • Organize and maintain client files and documents,
  • Assist attorneys in docket management,
  • Proofread and edit documents for accuracy and completeness,
  • Perform clerical tasks, such as data entry, filing, and scheduling appointments,
  • Answer phone calls and handle inquiries with professionalism and exceptional phone etiquette, and,
  • Interpret during client meetings, translate documents, and other duties that may be required to support the attorneys.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Fluency in both English and Spanish (written and spoken)
  • Proficiency in using document management systems and legal software,
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team is crucial, and,
  • Knowledge of legal terminology, procedures, and regulations is essential.

Our office primarily deals with the follow types of cases: Extreme hardship waivers, Asylum, Removal Defense, Federal Litigation, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, Temporary Protected Status, U visa (for victims of certain qualifying crimes), Special Immigrant Juvenile Visas, Tourist Visas, Family based immigration (such as consular processing or adjustment of status), and, Naturalization.

After a 90 day probationary period, an employee will receive health insurance, paid time off, and the option to participate in a retirement plan. Some overtime is required as needed. There are opportunities for bonuses throughout the year for employees who distinguish themselves.
