The terms and conditions of this position are covered by the Transport Workers Union (TWU) / International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) - Collective Bargaining Agreement. 
The work of the Mechanic Plant Maintenance - Industrial Electronics classification includes the following: hands-on experience repairing, maintaining, troubleshooting, overhauling machine tools (i.e. CNC machines), PLCs, fire alarm systems, security systems, and VFDs. Practical working knowledge of all aspects of an oscilloscope, TDR, DVM, computer hardware, software systems, and programming and calibration of plant automated instrumentation.

 

• You will need working knowledge of the National Electric Code.
• Works according to Company regulations and procedures and instructions from a Crew Chief or supervisor.
• Completes forms connected with work assignments according to established procedures.
• Will communicate with other company personnel as required in a manner designated by the Company.
• In addition to the above duties, performs the following duties as assigned: requesting parts, cleaning work area, and connecting/removing ground power and ground start units.
  
   

Technical Functions

• Troubleshoot, disassemble, clean, check, repair, rework, replace, fabricate, assemble, install, and adjust any building component, plant equipment, automotive and ground equipment, machinery, accessories, and parts
• Execute assignments requiring plumbing skills
• Execute assignments requiring millwright skills
• Weld materials
• Perform general building maintenance and construction work
• Maintain locks and keys for facility (doors, desks, gates) and other airport locations, including digital security access doors and gates

GSE / Facilities General Functions  

• Assist in storage, removal, and clean-up of hazardous waste
• Ensure forms, records, reports, and other work-related paperwork are completed properly
• Request parts
• Clean work area after each shift in preparation for the next crew
• Perform Foreign Object Debris (FOD) walks
• Coordinate with vendors regarding technical questions
• Explain work procedures to other personnel
• Escort vendors throughout airport property

 

What You'll Do (Cont.)

American Airlines General Functions

• Report to position on time, as scheduled, and at assigned station or location, including varying shifts, weekends, and holidays
• Perform all functions in accordance with safety procedures and policies
• Complete job-relevant trainings
• Adhere to government regulations (e.g., DOT, FAA, TSA)
• Adhere to company policies, procedures, and performance standards
• Follow instructions from supervisor or Crew Chief, as applicable
• Coordinate with other employees, vendors, and stakeholders to accomplish work tasks
• Perform duties that require general safety awareness (e.g., when working in an area with moving vehicles)
• Wear uniforms and work shoes as required by company policy
• Use relevant electronic systems to complete work

All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

• High School diploma or GED.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to read, write, fluently speak and understand the English language or language native to geographical location.
• Thirty-six months (36) or more journeyman experience in Industrial Electronics.
• Must be willing to work outdoors in any weather conditions in accordance to Company Safety Guidelines.
• Must be willing to work extra hours when there are operational needs, such as weather delays.
• Ability to work rotating shifts including weekends, holidays and days-off.
• Reports to work on a regular and timely basis.
• May be required to fulfill FAA criminal background checks to qualify for unescorted access privileges to airport security identification display areas (SIDA).
• Must be able to secure appropriate airport authority and/or US Customs security badges.
• You will be required to successfully complete our drug screening process.
• Any subsequent relocation expenses are the responsibility of the candidate.
